Christmas Traditions

Another Christmas has past, and 2017 is almost history. It’s amazing how when you become an adult how quickly time goes. I can remember as a kid that a year seemed like an eternity and now I blink and my kids are another year older.

This Christmas season, my husband and I discussed Christmas Traditions, ones that we had as kids and ones that we wanted to create or continue for our girls. We decided that it was most important that we weren’t running around crazy or stressed out by these traditions. Some of the traditions that we continued this year were making a gingerbread house as a family, attending family parties, decorating the Christmas Tree together, and Christmas Dresses and Christmas Pajamas. As you can see two of these traditions directly involve clothes. See this is why my blog is called What My Daughter Wore.

When I was a little girl, my parents gave us a present to open on Christmas Eve, and it was mostly always new pajamas. I’ve liked this tradition so much that when I first married my husband I bought him Christmas Pajamas. Now that we have three kids, I only buy Christmas Pajamas for them. I’ve always bought them matching pajamas, but this year was especially difficult. The age spread between LB and Little N makes it hard to find the same pajamas. I was able to find plain red pajamas. So problem solved.

Another tradition is matching Christmas Dresses. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find matching dresses this year, but my mom did find coordinating dresses for the girls at a craft fair called the Candy Dance this year. They looked super cute, and since they aren’t Christmas-y looking, the girls can wear them until they grow out of them. A win win in my book.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. A Happy New Year to everyone too!

Inspiration

Inspiration. It’s a loaded word. I’d love to be constantly inspired, but too often I just trudge along with the daily trudging. I had a previous blog that was for updating my family and friends on my life. It was boring. It was so boring that the last time I updated it was years ago. I’d admire other people’s blogs and I wondered why mine was so boring. Then about a week ago inspiration struck. I hadn’t found my writing angle, my voice. I was trying to format my blog the way I had seen other blogs, and my entries did not always flow.

I have to thank my daughter for the inspiration. My middle one to be specific, because well I have three of them. She loves clothes as much as I do, but the combinations that she sometimes puts together are hilarious. We were walking my oldest daughter to school one day and my middle was wearing her pjs. It wasn’t worth the argument to me. When we got home she got dressed and we went to swim lessons. When we got home she put on her big sister’s bright green tutu from last year’s dance recital. She loves this thing. Since it is winter I had her put pants on and a sweater to pick her sister up. She decided to also accessorize with a Mini Mouse hat. The previous day she wore the same tutu with dress up heels, and her 6 month old sister’s vest. Oh and bunny ears. And so because of her I had inspiration, and the start of this blog. I hope you enjoy reading.
